Step 1: Assessment

 

Visit Customer’s Facility

  • Customer requests on-site visit as they are unsure of the exact issue and the visit makes sense logistically.
  • Understand customer feedback and clues to the problem.
  • Listen and inspect for problem.

Ship to C&B Machinery

  • Customer ships spindle head to C&B Machinery for testing and diagnosis.
  • Understand customer feedback and clues to the problem.
  • Listen and inspect for problem.

    Step 2: Teardown

    • Remove grinding spindle head assembly from machine.
    • Overview photos and documentation of grinding spindle head assembly.
    • Disassemble the grinding spindle head assembly.
    • Clean, label, inventory, and organize all components.

        Step 3: Inspection

        • Check machine prints to determine required tolerances.
        • Full inspection of all components, including sizes and lengths of spindle and quill.
        • Determine if new components are required or if reuse of the old components are acceptable and within tolerance.

        Step 4: Repairs and Replacement

        • All old parts brought back to OEM specifications. If parts are not able to be repaired they will be replaced with new.
        • Spindle and/or spindle quill may need to be machined and/or balanced. This is determined by the OEM specifications for each part.
        • New components will be purchased only from reliable sources and each new part is run through a full inspection to ensure it meets OEM print specifications.

        Step 5: Reassembly

        • All details and parts have been collected, accounted for and fully inspected.
        • In a clean environment, and following OEM print guidelines, the spindles are reassembled and fully inspected for proper shake to meet OEM specifications.

        Step 6: Balancing/Testing

        • All Spindle Rebuilds finish with a balancing and testing phase on a C&B in-house test stand.
        • We follow a specialized testing process that checks for acceptable temperatures, noise , and vibration.
        • Depending on results, additional testing or balancing may be required.

        Step 7: Ship Back/Reinstall

        • Spindle heads are wrapped and packaged for shipment back to the customer.
        • We also offer the service of a C&B Technician traveling to your plant to assist with the re-installation and alignment of the rebuilt spindle.
